THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Jun 19, 2025 at 07:09:26 PM

Dear Avatar Backers,

We can't thank you all enough for the amazing support and enthusiasm you brought to this campaign. We're thrilled to have raised over half a million dollars(!) to produce and deliver the most amazing Avatar Legends RPG campaign set ever produced!

But this is just the beginning! Now that we've completed the campaign, we're getting to work on finalizing the writing and the art, reviewing production materials and samples, and starting the production process. There's a lot to do and we're excited to be getting down to the work.

We couldn't have done any of this without all of you, and your support means everything to us. We're a small company with big dreams, and the fact that all of you took the time to help is something we do not take for granted. As we work on all the elements of Voyage of the Unity, know that we're making them all for you.

We'd love to celebrate, but we've got a lot of work to do!

With our sincere appreciation and thanks,
Bill, Charlie, Jon, Matthew, and Paul

STRETCH GOAL UNLOCKED WITH 24 HOURS TO GO!
over 1 year ago – Wed, Jun 18, 2025 at 04:01:01 PM

Hey Avatar Backers!

We're down to the final stretch and we're ending the campaign with a bang! We just reached our $475K Stretch Goal to upgrade the World Map material and add foil and spot gloss to all the booklet covers! We're thrilled to be able to update the world map to cloth and add some flashy finishing to the booklets.

We just raised almost $50k in the last 24 hours, so if we can do that in the next 24 we'll hit our next stretch goal! So spread the word and let's close out strong!

If we manage to hit this Stretch Goal right before the end of the campaign, you'll have plenty opportunity to add the scroll as an Add-on or as one of your Tier selections after the campaign in the Backerkit pledge manager. And if you add an additional scroll add-on now, it'll help us reach the stretch goal!

We thank you all for all your support and enthusiasm for this campaign and for the world of Avatar. We can't wait to share these adventures and amazing in-world artifacts with you all.

Thanks!

Author Update - Liz Chaipraditkul
over 1 year ago – Wed, Jun 18, 2025 at 02:15:27 PM

Avatar Backers!

For this last (not least) author update we want to put the spotlight on Liz Chaipraditkul, who wrote Temple of Ukoa.

Liz Chaipradikul

Liz is a writer and game developer living in the Netherlands. She's the owner of Angry Hamster Publishing and Senior Project Manager for Magpie Games. You might've seen her work in Star Trek Adventures, 7th Sea Second Edition, Scion, or any number of indie TTRPGs. In her spare time she's a proud mom, avid crafter, and is currently trying to train the crows in her garden to eat from her hand.*

Why We Love Temple of Ukoa

Temple of Ukoa is about understanding the past, both in terms of knowing what happened, and how it effects the present. Avatar Roku himself needs your help to keep the conflict from escalating and discover the mystery of this seemingly abandoned temple. It's a great chance for the players to get off the ship and explore. Depending on how they address the conflict, it's also a chance for them to heroically defuse a situation that could escalate quickly, or unite both sides in anger at their meddling.

We're excited to show you more later this year as the final chapters of the Voyage of the Unity come together!

Thanks again for your support!
Bill, Charlie, Jon, Matthew, and Paul

* This does not seem wise to us, but we have faith in Liz's crow wrangling skills.

Author Update - Meet Monte Lin and Hiromi Cota
over 1 year ago – Tue, Jun 17, 2025 at 02:52:34 PM

Avatar Backers!

For this update, we'd like to talk about 2 of our writers, Monte Lin, who wrote Dead Calm, and Hiromi Cota, who wrote A Devious Wind.

Monte Lin

While being rained on near Portland, Oregon, Monte Lin writes, edits, and plays tabletop roleplaying games and writes short stories. He has worked for Magpie Games, Green Ronin, Paizo, and Fantasy Flight/Edge. His fiction has appeared in Cossmass Infinities, Translunar Travelers Lounge, Cast of Wonders, and other publications, and nonfiction in Strange Horizons. He is an alum of the Clarion West and Tin House workshops, and is the current managing editor of Uncanny Magazine. You can find him tweeting Doctor Who news, Asian American diaspora discourse, and his board game losses on Bluesky @Monte_Lin.

Why We Love Dead Calm

Dead Calm is about a power struggle tied up in the tensions between the nations and the reality that the Unity is in danger. Only swift, decisive action by the players can head off calamity. But that action can't simply be to seize control of the ship. They have to work with all sides, and do their best to evaluate which captain is best suited to save the Unity and how to elevate that person without causing open warfare on deck.

Hiromi Cota

Diverse in ethnicities, experiences, and careers, Hiromi Cota is an Indigenous Okinawan and Yaeyaman, as well as a Mexican, Japanese, and Swedish American. Hiromi has been a special operations heavy weapons expert, medical first responder, adjunct professor, rave journalist, and the flaming-sword-swinging lead in a heavy metal opera. They (singular) have worked on over 100 TTRPG books and love creating & expanding worlds. In their ‘free’ time, they’re an actor-combatant, specializing in spears and daggers. They’ve lived in nations around the world but have settled down in Seattle with their spouse Randi and their (plural) dog Nasus. Follow them on Bluesky and Instagram.

Why We Love A Devious Wind

What's NOT to love about pirates and sea serpents? But as is so often the case, not everything is as it seems. Not everything should be, or can be, fought, and help may come from unexpected places. The heroes have to think fast, outwit superior enemies, and yes, when the time comes, fight to save the Unity.

We're delighted with how the stories are turning out, and can't wait to get these in your hands. We're going to be play testing all of the adventures on our Discord server later this year, so stay tuned if you want to help give feedback and help tell the story of the Voyage of the Unity.

Thanks again for your support!

Artist Update - Meet Patrick Spaziante
over 1 year ago – Thu, Jun 12, 2025 at 04:08:38 PM

Avatar Backers!

For this update, we'd like to shine a light on another one of our artists, Patrick Spaziante. Patrick is the artist who brought you the world nautical map and the first of many bending scrolls!

Patrick Spaziante

Patrick Spaziante Is an illustrator hailing from The Big Apple. He has worked on children’s books, comics and toy merchandise as a freelancer since 2003, with a career in art spanning back to the 90s. His portfolio varies with works from various studios, including Sega (Sonic the Hedgehog), Nickelodeon (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar), Universal (Jurassic World, How to Train Your Dragon), Illumination (Minions), and many others.

So let's dig in to his work. First, the world nautical map! This beautiful map shows the world of Avatar Legends in a new way, from the perspective of those who sail its oceans.

Why do we love maps?

Maps ground us in the game. You can roll this out on your gaming table and instantly your players have a real, physical link to the world of Avatar Legends. They can see where they're going, where they've been, and before you know it, your players will be planning their own adventures! But trust us, it's still a good idea.

Bending Scrolls

Ever since I watched Katara find, and then, ahem, procure a waterbending scroll in the original series, I've wanted one myself. Almost like spellbooks in other games (or those programming books from my dim and distant past), these scrolls open new abilities, and new ways of bringing your powers to the world. Also, and just as importantly, they look cool as hell. Right now we're making a lot of scrolls for this Kickstarter, and Patrick has contributed the first: waterbending.

We're delighted with the work Patrick has done, and can't wait to get these in your hands.

We'd like to thank Patrick for helping bring the Voyage of the Unity to life, and we'll be sharing more about our writers next week!

Thanks again for your support!
